Web Layout

Today I've looked at how to use a grid in web layout as we will start on our own designs soon.

I created a grid in illustrator and experiment with a few layouts just to get an idea of the constraints and to give me an idea of what I can do with the grid in my own design.

These would be ideal for a home page that does the job introducing you to the website and allowing you to navigate to different areas from here.

This is a page which would hold the thumbnail images of my work. Its pretty basic but holds the images neatly on the page which allows users to easily see where they are.

Im going to think about how i'm going to produce my website using a design which represents me keeping the grid in mind.

Inspired

I've begun to look at websites to help generate ideas and to see what kind of style I want to use for when I create mine.

I came across  the website called Blu. It's a portfolio for their illustrations and their work. They use the idea of having a closed sketchbook as the homepage for you to interact with and flick through the different pages.

I like it because it's simple and easy to use but at the same time it's original and relates to the style of their work. Take a look.

Create a Button on Adobe Flash

In flash today we attempted to make our first buttons in preparation for our web designs.

We learnt how to create the button and the different stages of a button.

Start with creating a shape e.g. square or circle > then go to MODIFY > CONVERT TO BUTTON.

We then went through the stages e.g. Up, Over, Hit, Down.

This is the Up - The colour of the button before you hover over it in 1 frame.

The Over - The stage of the button when you hover over it.

The Hit - The stage where you click the button.

The Down - This is the stage of the button after you click it.

These are the basics of what we learnt, we went on to learn how to add animation to make the button more interactive, this helped for ideas for when we do create our websites.

First amateur amateur basic basic web page

We learnt the basics of web design today taught by Neil our tutor. We were taught about the different tags.

A tag is the text enclosed in these symbols <>. For example <open tag> </close tag>.

If you want to create a paragraph you would start by using an open paragraph tag e.g.

<p>and close it by using a close paragraph tag</P>

Its the same if you want to create a heading you would start by opening the heading by using one of these. <h1> and close it by one of these. </h1>

For a second heading you would use. <h2> and close </h2>

The codes to look at are dazzling at first but once explained it became clearer and you can see how you could elaborate on it to make a more interesting page.

We used Text edit on the mac to create this and are later going to learn how to use flash and other programs to create a web page.

Heres what I created with the knowledge I got from the lesson today.

One is basically a basic web page that is more basic than the first basic web page. So basic.

The second slightly stylised which I done once I learnt more about creating a web page. I used margins, links, images, different size and style fonts and i added colour.

I found it interesting to learn and am looking forward to creating a bit more of an advanced website.

Alberto Seveso

These images that you are about to look at are crazy. You can look at them and get lost just staring at them. They are created by an Italian artist called Alberto Seveso. They're created using high speed photographs.
